Popped in to see goddess of flora, Nicolette! She was putting together some gorgeous dahlia infused settings for NYC tables and weddings this weekend.
 Ah, to have a wedding designed by this lady. Her arrangements always look so naturally effortless, like they were just gathered in a meadow on a walk, totally dreamy.

Crafty women

-Hey all,

As the weather is beginning to turn here in NYC it's time to take full advantage of the dwindling warm evenings with some crafting outdoors.

We are talking Dreamcatching crafters!

At the beautiful Odette studio

 Inspired by these fine ladies at Wiksten, Odette and MCMC Perfumes who have done some real beauties, a few of us thought we would have a go ourselves. More about each of these truly talented women to come!
Also, I am finally watching David Lynch's Twin Peaks, it's amazing.  For anyone who is familiar, I think you'll agree that  the 'D-C' fits right in with all the other oddball fashion/textile/awesomeness going on there. I'm finding that I'm now strangely drawn to bad, christmas gift style sweaters in thrift stores, and I'm only just beginning season 2!

- We also used old bits of WG designs fabrics, torn into strips for around the hoops.

Premiere Vision, Paris

Twice a year we show our Textiles at a trade show in Paris. Premiere Vision is one of the largest annual trade shows for Textile design and is housed in a giant hangar style building a short train ride outside the city.

So the month before the show it's all hands on deck for the 'churn' of textiles for the event of the Textile season.

 We love a lady who dares to mix up her prints! Bedford Avenue subway station is usually a good place to spot a creative lass on her way into the city.

This guy was hanging out at the gorgeous Nelson Museum in Kansas city.

The stunning work above is by Rosemarie Auberson, her use of color and placement is so unique. Be sure to check out her collages too!

Bleached beauty

Loving the softer, muted tones of a late summer into fall. Sun bleached fabrics and fading blooms inspire some softer WG floral designs for 2012..

Dealtry +Wiksten Designs

Here are the silk tank top and sundress that Wiksten and I collaborated on, modeled here by us with photography by Tara Donne.
It was so great to work with Jenny of Wiksten, her brand  and aesthetic are truly one of a kind and she has an incredibly loyal customer base, who really appreciate the craftsmanship which goes into each beautifully made garment. A dream collaboration!


To tell you a little about the design process-
Firstly, Jenny and I traded ideas, imagery and color palettes, then I set to work on the print design. 
I have been a bit obsessed with torn wallpaper for years, the whole 'hidden beauty' thing really appeals to me. I love how each rip call reveal a lost era of design, so that's where I took early inspiration. I also paint a lot of florals each season, but I am more naturally attracted to geometry and repetition in design, so a melding of the two styles is what I was going for. Dainty ditsies from a distance but Geo's on closer inspection. 
WG Designs wanted to make sure that the pattern would sit in with Wikstens summer line nicely but also add a new edge. We decided on a lovely cerulean blue with pops of bright pink and fluro  yellow. 


We then sourced a US brand to have the fabric digitally printed. Woking Girl Design team took care of the Textile production side of things, whilst Wiksten dealt with the garment design, pattern making and sewing. 
As Jenny commented;  "Our end product is two garment designs that are totally easy, light as air, and joyous.  Perfect for a cheerful summer!" We couldn't be happier with the results.
