Barton Springs shoot

Barton springs provided the perfect backdrop for a few scarf shots.

Anne used hers Sarong-style for a quick dip in the springs.

I'm excited to wear my Bleached version with one of Jennys gorgeous new knit hats for fall!

Austin print inspiration

I love vintage and antique shops, fact. I'm a little bit obsessed with the 40's and 50's and the printed textiles of that era. I scour ebay and vintage markets for new print inspiration and also for any great dresses (ideally with a waist that will fit!) to add to the archives.

My target is for two new print designs a day, so you can imagine how quickly I run out of ideas! Working alongside some truly talented people, visiting museums, flee markets, books and travel are just some of the sources that help me to keep making!

The Rose bowl in LA is a favorite but Austin, Texas has to be one of my top spots so far for amazing vintage stores. I was lucky enough to be part of the Dobbin mews entourage who were making a trip to Austin for a trunk show at the beautiful Spartan store. Thanks for having me along ladies!

Photo of me via Jennifer! Hey, Fay can you be my hair stylist everyday??

summer clean

the muchness is getting to me again. i was inspired recently by one of my favorite blogs, simple lovely.  this post stayed with me awhile and got the wheels turning.

summer clean
fall clean
whilst i don't think i'll ever be a minimalist (too much of a magpie and sometimes just keeping things tidy is an achievement), i love how more space and less clutter makes me feel, and lets me focus on the things that really matter. like small dogs who want to play.

Marbling!

ink on the water
this week i was lucky enough to do some marbling onto fabric with a pro at this technique, ilana kohnat the textile arts center in brooklyn.

there is a lot of prep work involved in this craft, so be prepared to roll up your sleeves, but it's totally worth the effort!

bourbon and gloss

I love seeing a design interpreted and molded to someone's individual look. So, when gorgeous style maven Deenie Hartzog of Bourbon and Gloss told me about the collaboration she was doing with Chromatic Gallery, I couldn't wait to see what she would come up with.

Check out Eric White's shots of Deenie at the studio on her color-quest of a day out. Here she is throwing a Dealtry Kelly scarf into one of the looks! This lady knows how to rock a pink lip, mix up her prints AND give you the best beauty advice.

Look book part 2

The scarves will be available from this friday over in the shop! They are a limited edition collection made from 100% silk crepe de chine. The design was hand painted by Helen Dealtry at the Brooklyn studio, digitally printed in London and then hand-finished in Brooklyn, New York.
Light enough for long summer evenings, and wrapped around for fall, the silk is surprisingly warm. A scarf for all seasons, win win!
